RABI is a dynamic national charity at the forefront of supporting the physical, mental, and financial well-being of the farming community across England and Wales. Building on over 160 years of history, RABI is embracing bold, evidence-based transformation to ensure it remains deeply relevant and effective in supporting farming people build resilience to help them tackle the complex challenges they face. Today, it is a purpose-driven and people-focused organisation working at the cutting edge of service innovation for farming people’s well-being.
Under the leadership of Chief Executive Alicia Chivers, RABI has transitioned from a traditional grant-giving model to a forward-thinking, service-led organisation. The groundbreaking 2021 Big Farming Survey – with more than 15,500 responses – provided unparalleled insights into the real issues facing the community and catalysed RABI’s new strategic direction. The charity now delivers a range of impactful services and has become the largest provider of mental health services to the farming community.,
RABI is a resilient organisation, supported by generous legacy income, investments, and a growing voluntary fundraising base. It employs 80 staff, coordinates a national volunteer network of around 400 individuals, and is investing in the future through modern IT systems, strategic and community partnerships, and ambitious new service delivery models. As the largest provider of mental health counselling to the farming community, RABI has delivered more than 11,500 hours of counselling since the launch of the service in 2022. These services are run in partnership with specialist providers and sit alongside broader support programmes including continued direct financial support, wider wellbeing services and information, advice and guidance delivered by a team of RABI support officers based across England and Wales.
Now at a key stage in its ongoing development, RABI is seeking a strategic and values-led Director of Resources to join the senior leadership team. This role will be instrumental in shaping the culture, improving systems resilience, and enabling scale as the charity looks ahead with renewed purpose, focus, and ambition to 2050 through which a new long-term strategy is emerging – ambitious in scope, outward-looking in focus, and driven by evidence, insight, and partnership.
This isn’t just a functional leadership role. It’s cultural and strategic co-development opportunity – helping to embed values, grow influence, and extend RABI’s reach into the rural communities that depend on it.
